Indonesia will impose anti-dumping duties on imported polyester staple fiber

The Ministry of Finance of Indonesia announced that it will impose anti-dumping duties on imported staple fiber (PSF) from India, China and Taiwan.

The anti-dumping tax rates levied will vary from country to country and the anti-dumping duties levied on suppliers in the same country may differ.

The domestic textile industry strongly opposes this new policy because the domestic spinning industry lacks raw materials and the new policy may affect the domestic spinning industry to a large extent.

The domestic textile industry said that in recent months, the price of cotton has soared, and at the same time there has been considerable turmoil. Spinning companies have to switch to other fibers, such as polyester staple fibers.

Domestic polyester staple fiber producers cannot meet the requirements of domestic industries because they also export fibers, which necessarily means that spinning mills must import polyester staple fibers from many countries.

For the same reason, the textile industry asked the Ministry of Finance to reconsider the decision to impose anti-dumping duties.
