cute costumes
There's something truly heartwarming about stumbling upon moments that just scream "share-worthy." Take, for instance, the creative duo created by Gina, a talented photographer based in California. Every October marks what Gina calls "Dress Up Willow Month," where she transforms her young daughter into a different character every single day. Her Instagram page has become quite the hit, showcasing all the incredible costumes she comes up with.
We were absolutely delighted to see that two of this year’s costumes featured patterns from the beloved brand, Oliver + S! Can you guess which pattern was used for the Inspector Gadget-inspired ensemble? That's right—the Secret Agent Trench Coat! It’s such a clever and fitting choice for this classic TV character.
Check out the picture below, captured beautifully by Gina Lee Photography. The attention to detail in the trench coat is simply stunning, and it perfectly complements the retro vibe we associate with Inspector Gadget.

Moving on to another fantastic creation, we have a mini Ms. Frizzle looking absolutely fabulous in a dress crafted using the Jump Rope Dress pattern. This costume is vibrant, playful, and captures the essence of one of children's literature's most iconic characters.

Gina’s ability to blend creativity with fashion is nothing short of impressive. Each costume tells its own story and brings joy not only to her daughter but also to those who get to see them. It’s projects like these that remind us how much fun sewing can be when approached with love and imagination.
A huge thank you goes out to Gina for allowing us to share her incredible work. Also, big thanks to Jenny for pointing out these delightful costumes—what a treat they are!
So, if you’re ever looking for inspiration or just want to brighten your day, Gina’s Instagram feed is definitely worth checking out. There’s always something new and exciting waiting to be discovered there!

P.S. If you're interested in recreating some of these costumes yourself, the Oliver + S patterns are widely available and come highly recommended by many crafters. Happy sewing!
