In recent months, the popularity of UGG snow boots has not only attracted genuine consumers but also drawn unscrupulous individuals attempting to counterfeit the brand. According to information from the Industry and Commerce Department, during a special operation targeting intellectual property infringement and the sale of fake goods, the Lucheng Industrial and Commercial Bureau in Wenzhou confiscated a case involving the unauthorized use of the "UGG" trademark, with an estimated value exceeding 200,000 RMB. On the afternoon of December 16, based on a tip-off, law enforcement officers conducted an unexpected raid on a shoe factory located at Plot No. 11 in Wendu City, the second phase of Wenzhou. They seized a total of 26 cases, 624 pairs of snow boots suspected of infringing on the "UGG" trademark, along with 4,150 counterfeit kraft paper shoe boxes. According to initial investigations, the infringing footwear featured a rectangular cloth logo on the heel, with a white-yellow color that contrasts with the background. The English text "UGG" and "australia" was printed on the sides, with lowercase letters "m" and "y" placed next to "UGG." These markings were designed to blend with the background color and shading pattern, requiring close inspection under good lighting to identify. On the front center of the kraft box, "mUGGy" and "australia" were printed using a similar method to the cloth label, with the "m" and "y" subtly integrated into the design to emphasize the "UGG" branding. According to statements from the involved party, the factory had produced a total of 4,164 pairs of allegedly infringing snow boots since early November this year. Out of these, 3,540 pairs were sold to a customer in Shanghai, with the transaction amounting to 208,200 RMB. The case highlights the increasingly sophisticated methods used by counterfeiters to mimic well-known brands.
