It is expected that the growth rate of China's textile and apparel exports will slow down in 2012

According to China Customs data, since 2001, China's textile and clothing exports have been affected by the global financial crisis in 2008 and 2009. In other years, exports have maintained a high growth rate of around 20%.

In 2011, the total value of textile and apparel exports reached US$249.955 billion, an increase of 20.0% from 2010, and the growth rate slowed by 3.6 percentage points. Compared with 2001, the CAGR was 16.6%. Among them, textile exports reached US$ 94.712 billion, an increase of 22.9% year-on-year, and the growth rate slowed down by 5.6 percentage points; apparel exports reached US$ 153.243 billion, an increase of 18.4% year-on-year, and the growth rate slowed by 2.6 percentage points.

It is expected that China's textile and apparel exports will face greater pressure in 2012, and export growth will further slow down.

The main reason is:

(1) The high price of textile raw materials, the price of textiles and apparel, and the profits of enterprises will directly affect the orders and operations of enterprises; currently the domestic cotton price is much higher than the international cotton import price of more than 2000 yuan/ton;

(2) The domestic labor costs have increased significantly, and there is still room for upward adjustment; while textiles and clothing are labor-intensive industries, which will weaken the export advantages of Chinese labor costs;

(3) Increase in energy and transportation costs.

(4) The inevitable appreciation of *** is inevitable;

(5) The international economy has not fundamentally improved and the market demand is limited;

(6) In 2011, the export base of textiles and garments was large.
